Just borrowing Jennifer Lawrence for a moment 🫣, to model and introduce a new brand to the boutique: @oreliajewellery ✨ Orelia was established in 2008 and, since their inception, they have been a company dedicated to filling a gap in the jewellery market. Founder, Collette says: “[Orelia was born] out of a need for contemporary jewellery that looks high end yet is inexpensive; is great quality and created with a fine hand. Back in 2008, you could only get high street jewellery - [that was] chunky, bright yellow and extremely poor quality, OR super-expensive, under-counter jewellery. I wanted jewellery to wear myself (and also to give as a gift!) that wouldn’t cost a fortune. And so Orelia was created!” Based in Brighton, the proudly South Coast- run 🌊 , Orelia has now become known for being exactly what Collette wanted it to be, the home of high quality jewellery 💍 at a price point anybody will love. Fed up of your favourite knitwear going bobbly after a few wears and washes? Well, STOP SCROLLING ✋ and check out the only knitwear-saving hacks you need this Autumn! 🍂 📌 WHAT IS BOBBLING? 🧶 Bobbling, or ‘pilling’, occurs when the fibres of a fabric loosen and tangle themselves up into small knotted balls. 🧶 Contrary to what you might think, bobbling doesn’t indicate an inferior-quality material, in fact it is common in most fabrics: synthetic, blended and natural fibres are all prone to bobbling. 📌 WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? There are 3 reasons a fabric might bobble: FRICTION 🌪️ Bobbling is primarily caused by the friction that happens when you sit, move or wash your clothes. The rubbing causes loose fibres to come to the surface, where they form pills. FIBRE TYPE 🧬 Fabrics made up of shorter length fibres (like wool or cotton) break down more easily and so then bobble. STRUCTURE 🪢 Loose weaves or knits pill more often because of the construction of the garment: the fibres are looser and move around more freely; tightly woven fabrics pill less because the fibres are more secure. 📌 HOW CAN YOU PREVENT PILLING? The biggest thing you can to prevent bobbling is reconsider how you wash your clothes: 🔄 WASH INSIDE OUT - Turning your clothes inside out reduces the surface area exposed to friction in the wash. 🚰 GO GENTLY - A slower spin wash reduces the opportunity for fibres to tangle and break as they tumble around in the drum; washing on a lower temperature ensures that the bonds of the fibres aren’t further weakened by unecessary heat. 🧼 DITCH THE POWDER - Opt for a liquid laundry detergent over a powder, which is more abrasive on your clothes than its liquid counterpart. Similarly, using a fabric softener can further protect your fabrics. 🧺 AIR-DRY - Tumble-drying creates a lot of extra movement and friction, so air-dry your clothes whenever possible. AND IF YOU FIND BOBBLING...
